Die CD-Laufwerksmechanik macht den Unterschied. In der CD Box RS2 T kommt ein CD-Pro 8 CD-Laufwerk mit der "Blue Tiger" CD 84 Servo-Regelung von StreamUnlimited zum Einsatz, das dezidiert nur für das Abspielen von CDs nach Red-Book-Standard konstruiert wurde. Die Pro-Ject CD Box RS2 T ist der erste CD-Spieler, bei dem das wieder aufgelegte CD-Laufwerk CD-Pro 8 zum Einsatz kommt.
Bei der Pro-Ject CD Box RS2 T kann die Übertragung der Audiodaten vom CD-Laufwerk zum externen Wandler zusätzlich zu den üblichen Digitalausgängen (optisch, koaxial und symmetrisch) auch über eine I2S-Schnittstelle erfolgen. Im I2S-Bus werden die Audiodaten und das Clock-Signal separat verarbeitet. Die Übertragung zum D/A-Wandler erfolgt über ein HDMI-Kabel. Dies führt im Vergleich zur Datenübertragung mit einem üblichen Digitalkabel und nachfolgender konventioneller Digitalsignalaufbereitung zu einem erheblich geringeren Jitter (Phasenzittern) im Audiosignal.
Die logischen Spielpartner für die Pro-Ject CD Box RS2 T ist der der Vorverstärker mit integriertem D/A-Wandler Pro-Ject Pre Box RS 2 Digital. Das Geräte verfügen über eine I2S-Schnittstelle.

From the stream unlimited site “The Brand new CD-Pro 8 Series is our successor of the CD-Pro 2. It features high quality Aluminium chassis, carbon fiber cover and carbon fiber turn table. Both versions are equipped with a SANYO HD850 OPU and a CD-84 board at the bottom.” The Sanyo transport which is the basis of the drive cost approx $39 and the laser $8. Really struggling to understand the pricing of this unit?

Magical Mystery Mike : Love that you went back for a look at this set. It's one of the best CD Box sets I've ever seen. The Mini LP style was a great way to go!
80s Teen : One of the few cd purchases where you can't just stream the versions on services such as Apple Music and Spotify. You can get a lot of the mono songs streamed through the U.S. ablums box which I know is on Apple Music for sure, but only up to 1966 and and they're all spread out on the ameircan versions of the albums. But even if you made a playlist you'd still be missing three albums worth of mono tracks and a few early songs that were never on Ameircan albums that are on the Mono Masters.
